Inspired by [info]kathputli_girl's own recently-posted list, I'm making a list of all the Bollywood movies I've watched! I attempted to put it in chronological order, but I only started keeping a list after watching thirty or forty-odd movies, so I don't remember exactly the order. Also, I forgot like, half, of the ones I've borrowed from Naani, so the list is not at all complete. I'm . . . working on that. >_>

Anyway, on to the list! )

I still have yet to upload pictures, so further updates from Japan are still forthcoming, sorry! The most important update, though, is that I splurged and bought myself an annual pass for Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea and can now go whenever I want. ♥ I'm desperately trying to track down an MP3 of DisneySea's version of Fantasmic, if only for the villain song, which is a ridiculously epic mash-up of "Hellfire" and "Night on Bald Mountain". *_*

Other than that, a quick question: who else is attempting NaNo this year? What are you all writing? I'm planning to try, but considering my track record, if I beat my previous record of 3000ish words, I'll be pleased. xD

So I should probably get around to mentioning at some point that I'm in Japan, huh?
To that end, I'm in Japan! )

And in the continuing saga of "[info]alicepotato is dreadful at updating her lj", I have been absent for ages yet again!

Things I have learned in my absence:
- Running, while awful in every possible way, is actually very good exercise!
- Green Lantern is absolutely terrible and should not be watched under any circumstances
- X-Men: First Class, on the other hand, is very fun, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are not at all bad-looking, and I am apparently perfectly willing to watch the same movie four times in a month to see them be dammit-Hollywood-were-one-of-them-a-girl-they'd-be-making-out-by-now close with each other
- My sister's and my new goal of watching all of the AFI Top 100 films this summer is bound to be an insurmountable one, but fun nonetheless
- Additionally, of the movies we've watched so far, Bringing Up Baby and Yankee Doodle Dandy are delightful, whereas The Searchers, Unforgiven, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner are dead boring
- Blueberry vodka is nasty and I am the world's nerdiest drunk!
- Studying in Japan requires much too much preliminary paperwork
- It has been far too long since I've watched a good Bollywood movie, and I would certainly appreciate recommendations!

It's been a pretty great summer so far, overall! How has everyone else been doing?

Apologies for being totally absent from LJ yet again! My usual excuse of "ughhh finals projects and papers" still stands, haha. I don't know why the Japanese department is so enamoured of 25-page papers, but I wish they would stop it.

Some good news - I got accepted to study in Japan!!! I have to find funding somehow, but seeing as the only income I can pay for it with is my TA earnings, aka pretty much nothing, I think I have a pretty good chance of getting financial aid.

I am super-excited and I can't wait to start arranging meet-ups with my friends over there, planning trips to China and Korea (and hopefully convincing UMass that they're educational and should be paid for by financial aid, lol), and going to Tokyo Disney, of course, and basically just to be in Japan again. ♥♥♥

On the other hand, though, since I certainly can't afford to pay for both, this means I'm not going to be studying in India after all. Which really, really, really sucks, but, well, I can apply again another summer, hopefully, so I'm going to think about that and try not to get too upset.

So: focusing on Japan!

(Also, I should probably try to get around to posting the last of my pictures from my summer trip to Japan before I go back again. xD)

I think I've given up on the 15-day meme, haha. I'm just surprised I managed to get about halfway through at all!

More interesting, though, pictures from Japan, finally!

Huge pictures, because resizing takes too long! )

Days 6 & 7 )

And an entirely unrelated addition: Kajol won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for My Name Is Khan! So now she's tied with Nutan for most wins, which is amazing. This is a good week to be a Kajol fan, yay. ♥

ETA: And I didn't realise earlier, but SRK also winning for MNIK ties him for most Best Actor Awards with Dilip Kumar! I like how it's perfectly split between old and new Bollywood now, what with Nutan/Kajol and Dilip Kumar/SRK for most wins. Awesome!

There is no point to snow if I don't get a snow day out of it, argh. Also, I recognise the importance of Genji Monogatari in the history of literature and stuff, but it is reeeally boring to get through so far. Has anyone read it and/or have any idea if it gets more interesting later?

Haha, I knew the 15 Days meme would be difficult for me, but I couldn't even do three days in a row? xD

Days 3 & 4 )

In other news, my India study abroad application has run into some issues, so now instead of applying to the Hindi program in Jaipur, I'm applying to study Punjabi in Chandigarh. I was trying to decide between Punjabi and Telugu (which would admittedly be more use, fannish-wise, as I watch more Telugu movies than Punjabi ones) but figured that since I know two native Punjabi speakers and no speakers of Telugu, native or otherwise, I should go with the one I can actually practise afterwards. Please cross your fingers that I get accepted!

Also, Kajol received the Padma Shree award! Good for her. ♥ Have I mentioned lately that she is my favourite ever? Because she totally is, so I'm always happy to hear good things like this about her. ♥

Also! I watched Aaja Nachle recently and it totally figures that my favourite film of Madhuri's, and honestly the only one I really liked her in, is one of her total flops. Way to go, self. xD

And finally: I will have my Japan pictures up soon! If I have a snow day tomorrow, they'll be up tomorrow, otherwise it'll be Friday.
